Next to the town centre of Lecina, you will find one of the most well-known and longstanding trees in the province. It is estimated to be approximately one thousand years old.

It is known as the “Castañera de Carruesco” due to the sweet taste of its acorns.

Its dimensions are impressive at 16.5m in height, 6.1m around the circumference of the trunk and 28m across the diameter of its treetop.

It has witnessed judicial agreements, pacts between city councils, and weddings, and is the subject of legends.

Its health is excellent and it continues to produce acorns of the highest quality.

It is included in Catalogue of the unique trees of Aragon.
