In the decade of the 1970´s two townships: Huerta de Vero and Buera, came together and formed the municipality now known as Santa María de Dulcis.
It has taken its name from the sanctuary where both villages attend a religious pilgrimage (romeria) and profess great devotion.
Both the villages of Huerta and Buera stand out for their heritage conservation, especially traditional somontano houses and in both one can find some of the most outstanding examples of the region.
