Situated in a privileged enclave, with a gentle and nice relief, it occupies a strategic position between two valleys of the River Vero and the Alcanadre. Over centuries, the people of the high section of the Vero have passed through here en-route to Huesca, which explains the origin of the village's name.
The village provides outstanding examples of traditional architecture. Semi-circular arches, wrought iron, decorative eaves, balconies, coats of arms... and you can also admire some of the motifs. Noteworthy houses descending from ancient noble families include the “Loscertales” (16th century) and the “Molina” (16th century).
The area is presided over by the church of San Pedro, a monument from the 18th century with the chapel dedicated to the Saints Nunilo and Alodia, who originate from Adahuesca.
Numerous legends and traditions have been conceived in Adahuesca and you can learn about them at the “Centro de Interpretación de Leyendas y Tradiciones del Somontano” (Centre of Interpretation of Legends and Traditions of Somontano). It is situated on the site that was occupied by the old parish church and castle of 1055, with the remains of the wall and the tower still preserved.
Next to the village you will find the chapel of Treviño (12th-13th century), a magnificent Roman temple surrounded by a beautiful landscape.
