Upon exploring the River Vero Cultural Park it's not difficult to find visible remnants of the old defensive establishments. The remains of walls, rocky pillars, strange looking mounds... All in all there are many historic sites, enshrined in mystery, which one day played a leading role in and have born witness to the ups and downs of the Park, evident in the stories, legends and the historical geography.
There are several remains of castles, some better preserved than others, in the Cultural Park. Apart from the fortress monument of Alquézar, only those of Castillazuelo, the old cemetery (“Cementerio Viejo”) of Adahuesca, the castle of Zaba, Esplubiello, castillo de Arcusa, castillo de Miravet en Sarsa de Surta, Los Santos and Peña Santa Margarita, retain significant portions of their structure. Many others, whose stones served as material for other constructions, are now archaeological remains: castillo de Morcat, recinto fortificado de Peña Surta, castillo de Castellazo,...
The remains of the wall, which during periods of instability were used to protect many locations, are much more scarce. In Adahuesca a trumeau is preserved in the area known as “Cementerio Viejo” (old cemetery). Nowadays, it forms part of the exterior space of the Legends and Traditions Visitor Centre. The same enclosure also had a tower.
