Over time, the inhabitants of each locality erected, with great effort, several constructions necessary for the agricultural and livestock activities typical of rural life.
They are scattered across the entire region. They were constructed from natural materials and, because of this, they are perfectly adapted to the natural surroundings. They are characterised by their intense simplicity and minimalism.
The most common and most characteristic constructions are: huts, farmyards and apiaries.
The most common construction techniques are masonry and drystone, especially in huts, farmyard walls and walls along the paths. Adobe and mud walls are frequently used in the south of the Huerta de Vero. There are also small caves carved into the sandstone, used as small shelters.
Among the basic materials used for the roofs, you will find stone tiles in the villages of the far north of the Park (in the municipality of Bárcabo), and arabic tiles in the rest.
